This question pops up a lot. Success in life is not having to worry about paying bills, wondering where your next meal is coming from, and being able to engage in something you enjoy.

Success in life should be defined by how happy you are and how little you need to worry. And that the people you love also have that option. If I had more money than I needed, I would help my family and friends. Once they were taken care of, I would move on to the charities and causes I support. I do not need a vast wealth that I will never be able to spend. Hoarding money and trying to amass even more unnecessary funds is ridiculous.

You cannot take wealth with you. If you take care of your community, then your community will be able to take care of the next generation.

That is what the American dream used to be. And I hope it will be again. Corporate greed and all of its proponents needs to be done with. There is no reason for a billionaire class or above. We should have the same rules as we have for the government. You have to be spending your budget or next year you will not have that money. No hoarding of wealth over a certain limit. It should be circulating somewhere. Either spend it on yourself or spend it on your community. You cannot hold on to it indefinitely. Before we allowed investors and stakeholders to hold companies hostage, they used to re-invest in their infrastructure and their employees. Those people can sue if every dollar is not spent on making them more money. Even though they do not work at the company! It is absolutely insane and this has been around my entire existence! We need to abolish this and allow companies to actually reinvest in themselves. Currently, they cannot do that. Because profit margins for non-employees are more important. Absolute insanity. Enough is enough and we must make change. Screw profits and share buybacks! Invest in factories, employee education and benefits, and let us revitalize the work force with quality jobs that can support our families.

If you work full-time, you deserve to be able to support your family. You deserve benefits to take care of your family. Your government and all of its people should want you to succeed and prosper. What good is it to sit on the top of a pile of a rubble?

We have an opportunity to make change. We need to protect our workforce. We need to take away power from stakeholders who should be supporting the business and not bleeding our companies until they died. I lost my two favorite stores, Jo-Ann and ToysRUs because “Investment” people bought them and then used their money to buy up a bunch of other companies debts. Once they amassed all this money, they went bankrupt and were fine. The companies died. Companies that should not have died. They had been around forever and had good profit margins. Absolutely destroyed as a “venture”.

That kind of stuff needs to be outlawed. I am so tired to losing to people who do not care about the people they hurt and the damage they do to our country. I hope the next two years can bring some change. That we can finally turn the tide against these things that allow the “rich to get richer”. There should be some kind of punishment for intentionally doing this in the name of making money.

American Dream is being able to support your community without the worry of everything around you falling apart. That is success.
