“Treat others the way you wish to be treated.” Also known as the golden rule.

For me this has always been a good way to live. Until otherwise directed, I will treat people the way I would wish to be treated. Personally, I like to be asked instead of someone assuming something about me or for me. I try to be polite and patient. This is another thing where until I am told otherwise, I will base my politeness on my own culture until I am taught better.

This is all the idea of the “platinum rule” idea that you treat people the way they want to be treated which is what I do in practice with the golden rule. However, until I am able to learn better I will adhere to being what I have been taught.

I also do not judge other people for doing what they think is the right thing to do. I will correct or explain my side of things when I am able and then we can move forward from there.

It is really about your intentions. I do not intend to be hurtful or provocative, I want to get along with most people I meet. In order to do so I have to talk with them and clarify things. I am open to hearing a person out. I know how I was raised is different from other people and we all do not share the same expectations or hangups. The only way to know is to learn. Until I learn, I will try to be the best person I can be according to my own standards.
