I want to believe in it. A lot of people confuse it for immediate retribution for doing something bad, but that is not actually how the idea works. It is a cataloging at the end of a life of how good and evil a person has been. Depending on their levels of good and evil will dictate their place in the chain of reincarnation in their next life.
It is impossible to know if reincarnation is real. People have believed in it for thousands of years. The goal is to continue moving up the chain of karma until you reach a higher plane of existence. Something beyond our material world.
I like this system a lot more than Christian beliefs. It gives everyone a chance to reach the highest planes. The goal is to think past material ends. That you will be punished for causing harm by having to work their way up again.
I do ascribe to the belief that “You are what you put out into the world”. That has always stuck with me and is really in line with reincarnation and karma.
I have never seen the appeal of being the richest, the most powerful, or whatever else the most evil in our world are striving to be. I want a world where we are all safe. Where we all have access to what we need and are able to be happy. I do not think I could ever be truly happy knowing that there are people out their hurting or being terrorized.
To be human is thought to be able to have a higher level of consciousness than animals. That we should be able to see how we affect the world around us. We have the potential to create a world where we all belong. Nature, animals, and humans could coexist peacefully. Yet that is not what the majority of humanity seems to want. Instead they seek to be at the top. Why would you want to be on the top of a mountain of ashes? What good is it to have the most if those with the least are dying? Eventually everyone else will be gone and you will be alone until you also inevitably die. Our time on earth is fleeting, would you not want to improve it for those that will hopefully come after?
