There are few places I ever feel truly comfortable and that is what I consider a home to be. Our house, the house I grew up in, and my partner’s aunt’s house. I really liked her right off the bat. She is so welcoming and inviting. It is so easy to be comfortable around her. Her home is the same way. It feels like people live there and you will not get in trouble for making a mess or breaking something accidentally. The dining table is big enough for everyone, she cooks with her heart, and all the furniture is cozy, not beautiful. I have never felt judged by her nor have I ever felt expectations. It is always the highlight of the trip whenever we visit my partner’s home state.
I have also always felt rather comfortable in a regular forest. Big pine or evergreen trees surrounding me. Ferns and moss litter the ground. It is great to be hiking and get to the point where you cannot hear the sounds of people any more, only the sounds of the forest. It is so relaxing. Especially when you are hiking during the off season and there are hardly any other hikers. So peaceful.
