If you could pick any fictional animal to be your lifelong companion (like a Pokémon or fantasy pet), what would it be?

Oh, this is a fun one. So many options!

If it were to be a Pokemon, it would probably be Bulbasaur. He was my first Pokemon ever. With my love of gardening, he would fit in nicely. First in my Pokedex, first in my heart.

Other fictional animals… I find myself leaning toward horses which is silly because horses are real. Probably something to do with Ocarina of Time and having Epona. If I were to have a pet I could ride, I would probably choose Skyrim’s Shadowmere or Arvak. The idea that they are a summonable familiar would be handy for an animal that would need so much room. Ideally, I would love Dragon Age: Veilguard’s Assan. But having to find meat sources for a griffon would be costly and potentially problematic. But he is so cuddly and takes training well.

The last character I played in D&D had a luck dragon. It mostly perched on my shoulder and hung out. We never finished the campaign so I am not sure what its backstory was, but it was handy. As someone with perpetual bad luck, I feel like the luck dragon would be the best option for a companion for me.

One thought that came up a lot during this thought exercise was picking a companion that either never died or would live a long time. I do not handle the loss of a pet well. It does not seem to stop me from having them, but if I were to choose a fictional one it would need to live a long time or possibly outlive me.

    *SIN-FREE AND DEATH-FREE*

    📖 *_”There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit, for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8:1-2)._*

    The Christian life is one of absolute liberty in Christ. The moment you were born again, you were brought into a new realm of existence with dominion over sin and death. This is what the Apostle Paul unveils in Romans 8:1-2.

    Notice the distinction: The one who’s in Christ no longer walks according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Why? The answer is in the second verse: a new law is now at work in him— *”the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.”* The law has made you free from death, and the law of sin.

    The expression *”made me free”* as used by the Apostle Paul is deeper than merely being delivered from something. It carries the thought of separation; complete separation from the dominion and influence of sin and from death. It literally means you’re sin-free and death-free.

    This is a vital truth every Christian must understand. Many still think of themselves as vulnerable to the same limitations, fears, corruption, and death that dominate the natural man. But the Word says otherwise. You’ve been brought into righteousness, into the realm of life and immortality through the Gospel.

    2 Timothy 1:9-10 tells us the Lord Jesus has *_”…saved us, and called us with an holy calling…abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.”_* The life in you now is the resurrection life of Christ. It’s superior to sin, darkness, sickness, fear, failure, and death.

    This is why you should never think, talk, or act like one under the bondage of sin or of death. The God-life in you has intrinsic attributes—sinlessnes and deathlessness! Walk in this consciousness. Refuse to accommodate guilt, defeat, condemnation, or death in any form. You belong to another realm: the sin-free and death-free zone. *Hallelujah!*

    *PRAYER*

    *Dear Father, thank you for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus that has made me sin-free and death-free. I walk in the consciousness of eternal life, victory, dominion, and righteousness. Fear, condemnation, sickness and death have no place in me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*
