“Actions speak louder than words”

People put too much emphasis on the words people say. Anyone can promise to change, to do better, or that they have your best interest at heart. It is the actions they do that show the truth.

It is something to keep in mind when debating whether you should give someone another chance. Also when the question of who is being truthful comes up during disputes.

It is a very difficult thing to say the right thing in the heat of the moment. I have found most people who give you pretty words turn out to be quite manipulate and disingenuous. There is some sort of detachment that happens in the moment for these people. The inauthentic reactions tell me a lot about what their angle is. I would rather have something hurtful when emotions are running high than some weird false face.

The people who are there through the hard times, that come to your rescue when you need it, the ones that stand by your side. Those are the ones I give my trust to. I want the people who are there for me through the good times and the bad. The ones that apologize for the stupid thing they did and honestly try to change. It is hard to change. Watching someone actively try to alter behaviors or words that they have used for years out of habit or upbringing, is incredible moving experience.

I am imperfect. In the moment, I am going to say or do things I regret. The important thing is to come back after and repair. Come up with a plan to keep things from happening again. Work on diffusing small things so they do not become big things. Admit fault when guilty and do better moving forward.

It is easy to see when people are trying. Even if they fail, the attempt of change, the attempt to do better is the most important thing. If someone says they are going to do something, I want to see it be done or at least for their to be progress toward that goal.

I want to be held accountable for when I say I am going to try. If I tell you I am going to change, I am going to try. There will be effort, research and eventually results. Words mean nothing if I cannot back them up.
