Honestly, I miss snail mail. I like getting actual correspondence through the mail. It was always a nice surprise and a reason to check the mail. Now, I get mostly ads, card offers, and an occasional bill that still comes through the post.

I also miss having home phones and not cell phones.

Both were ways that people would intentionally correspond with other people. They would take time out of their day to show they cared about you. Either they blocked time out of their day to chat or would take a few minutes to drop you a note with an update.

Those days were nice. It was more sincere and gave you an entirely different feeling than text messages and emails. People put thought into what they wanted to say to you. There was so much less miscommunication. It was all deliberate.

I still call people. Not as much as I used to, but my older relatives. I could text my friends everyday and still feel closer to distant relatives that I talk to a handful of times a year. Conversations are better. It is easier to ask follow up questions and not get distracted. You remember things people say so much better as well.

I hate that we are losing all these ways to connect. All to be replaced with these less satisfying to keep in touch which feels cheap which makes us treat the relationship as cheap as well.
