My top tip would be to define what being successful is to you. Everyone has their own idea of what success means. Like the other day’s question about finding happiness, success is a personal goal.
If you want to be well educated, what does that mean? Does it mean having a degree or does it mean learning how to do various things?
If you want to make a certain amount of money, what is that money for?
If you want to move up at work, how far do you want to move up?
In order to be happy or successful, you need to have an attainable goal. It cannot be simply moving the goal post when you reach a certain point. If you are constantly moving the goal, you will never be successful or happy.
My goal is to write. I have finished a novel. There are a few biographical books I want to write because so many people tell me I should. When I finish writing them, that will be my success in writing. For me it is not about financial gain, but telling the story. If that story can help someone, then I will be a true success.
Even when my goals were financial, the goal was to have enough money to help other people. Be it my family, friends, or my community.
