The Middle.
It was never one of the big time must see shows, but it was a nice comfortable feel good show that you could watch and enjoy. They did not do anything too daring or controversial, but they were a pretty normal family that seemed to be perpetually unlucky.
The ending wrapped everything up nice and neat. I was happy with the conclusions. Sue Sue Heck was a favorite in our house as my kids struggled to fit in as well.
Another nice thing the show did was let the kids grow up pretty naturally on the show, they were not stuck at one age forever and then randomly a new age. The show grew with the kids and they did not bring in any new younger children to keep it interesting. I do not even remember hearing any controversies about the cast.
It was a cute show that I could watch with my kids and have them relate because of the social awkwardness or to understand that families do struggle. It was missing a lot of diversity, but it was set in Indiana. Never been, but I would not think it was a highly diverse area. Lots of social challenges due to awkwardness or neurospicy-ness.
In some ways, it reminded me of my childhood. If I was to make a family friendly version of my childhood, it would probably be something like this.
