This is a hard question. If I truly love a movie, I will watch it again and again. I do not know that erasing it from my memory and watching it again would really be that different. Maybe I would not like it any more. That would be sad.
Probably one of the best movies you could do this with would be a surprise ending movie. Those do not hit the same when you know the ending. The Usual Suspects, Fight Club, or Signs? Not knowing the ending and going into those would be a fun thing to relive. I would say the 6th Sense, but I still have not watched it as it was already spoiled for me.
The Others would probably be my number one choice of movie to watch again. It was very captivating. I have always loved Nicole Kidman movies. That would probably be the one I would want to watch again. I am fairly certain I would still like it, which is a concern with a lot of other movies.
I could understand people that would say Lord of the Rings or something like that. I get it. I do. Those have a hidden depth of feelings for some people. My feel good movies as I have written about before are things like the Addams Family, Ghostbusters, etc. Movies that were a product of their time and I love to rewatch because it brings back feelings of that time. They are a comfort. If I did not have that attached comfort and watched them as new, I’m not sure I would say the same thing.
I have always been a horror fan, so picking a surprise ending horror movie would be a good pick for me.
