A mystery that has never been solved would have to be my medical diagnosis. I have had a plethora of health issues since high school and no matter how much testing I have had done, there are never any answers.
I get diagnoses for various small symptomatic issues, but the reason behind my issues remains unknown. It has become quite the list of issues and realistically there has to be a single reason for most of them. I have changed doctors a few times over the year and each time they start out bound and determined to figure it out and then there is never a solution.
I go through the same rounds of testing. Even getting different results sometimes and still nothing. It has been so frustrating. Now when I have to see a new care provider for something, they go through my list and look at me like it seems crazy. I can only shrug. It is what it is.
I have given up hope for a solution. I am managing the symptoms as best as I can. Each time I am offered a new possibility, I nod a long and wait to be told the results are inconclusive.
The really fun thing is that a few of my diagnoses are based on “women’s health” issues and since there is so little research into them they can give you the diagnosis without being able to prove you have it in the first place. The entire medical field agrees that if you cannot come up with another answer that you hang one of these untestable diagnoses on a woman.
