Okay, so again I am reminding you that I did not grow up with religion. My dad did and my mother did not either. They still celebrated those popular Christian holidays, Christmas and Easter.
Easter is my favorite holiday. I like to think of it as the pagan holiday of birth and springtime and all that jazz. When I was little I only knew about the Easter bunny and all the cartoons on television that backed it up.
Now that I am older, it is still my favorite holiday of the year. It is during a nice time of year, so you do not have to have contingencies in case of snow, ice, or sickness.
There are no “official” colors. I have always struggled to pick a single color as my favorite and prefer to say rainbow when asked. Easter has so many colors.
It is not about gift giving. Kids get a little basket of candy and maybe a couple small toys. That is it. It is perfect. Low expectations, easily achieveable.
Decorating eggs is so fun. Even as an adult it was incredibly fun to do with my kids. I would pick out a new kit each year and we had fun. We did a volcano one year and shaving cream another. It is fun and pretty.
The food is also so much better than Thanksgiving or Christmas. A nice ham and deviled eggs is delicious.
They also have the Easter dresses! The girls looked so cute in their dresses when they were little.
Bottom Line: Easter is the best whether you are religious or not.
