The last time I took a risk, I posted some of my writing online. Some fiction, a few short stories. I have gotten a pretty good reception and my writing has improved. Things that I knew I was good at writing are still good and I have learned that I am really good at writing some types of stories that I personally do not like. Which was really surprising. I have always been good at writing things that make people uncomfortable, but are still enjoyable. Things like uncomfortable topics, horror, and suspense. I have tried writing the opposite of it to try and stretch my writing skills and found that I am really good at writing sappy, feel good stories. The kinds of stories I do not go looking to read typically. I have gotten a lot of feedback that the people who enjoy it are people who do not typically like that kind of writing either, but they enjoyed my story.

It has been an eye opening experience for me. I have broadened my repertoire and have been able to twist up the genres a bit. I was extremely nervous that people would hate my fiction writing as I have not written regularly in years and even then only for school and myself. Putting myself out there last November was incredibly terrifying.

Now I have people who wait every week to read what I post in my next update. It is incredible. My writing has also improved in the past few months already. My vocabulary is increasing again and my regular speech is also improving. I am connecting with other writers. It has been a lot of fun. This has been something I needed.
