The best compliment I have received is one that I have been given many times over the entirety of my life. It is also one that I have been accused by a few people of not being. I have been commended for my patience on many occasions.
Teachers, bosses, co-workers, therapists, friends, students, kid’s friends, kid’s teachers, kid’s friends parents, kid’s coaches, and more have told me that I am very patient. When I explain my thought processes, when they ask for solutions or suggestions, when they watch me interact with anyone in the world, and when I am actively being shouted at and not immediately reacting the way they think I should. I worked customer service for over a decade that requires a lot of patience.
My partner, my kids, and my parents have all accused me of being impatient. I do not think that is true. I try really hard to give people multiple chances and I do multiple reminders. At some point I hit my limit and then we hit an impasse.
If anything, I am stubborn and do not let things go. That I know I am guilty of, but as for patience I have a lot of that.
