There are not a lot of things that I have seen more than five times in the last few decades. However, when I was a kid and we had cable there were always movies that seemed to play all the time. I was home alone a lot as a kid and teenager, so I liked to have the television on for noise sometimes.
The original Ghostbusters and its sequel was a favorite. Probably where I picked up so much of my natural sarcasm.
Zoolander. As a teenager, I thought it was the funniest thing. Someone bought me the DVD and I would put it on whenever I needed cheering up.
Moulin Rouge. I remember originally my mom and I rented it from Hollywood Video. We did not know it was a musical. We apparently heard nothing about it. I remember the two of us looking at each other in shock during the “Like a Virgin” number. It was hilarious.
Avatar: The Last Airbender. Watched it when it came out, watched reruns, shared it with two different partners, and then my kids. It is an excellent show.
Steven Universe. It is such a sweet show and so different from anything else I have seen. It really resonates with me. I even own the soundtracks. The handling of all the raw emotions. Showing trauma being dealt with in healthy and unhealthy ways. Beautiful.
A shout-out to Umbrella Academy musical episodes. I love them and have watched through the series a couple times, but a ridiculous amount of times for the musical ones.
