Actually just this week, I had diabetes explained to me as a blood pressure disorder. That the glucose levels cause fatty deposits to form inside blood vessels which in turn leads to blood vessels becoming narrow and hard. This has effects on your eyes and nerve pain issues. There is so much out there about diabetics losing feeling in their extremities, but it actually can cause nerve issues throughout your body. As I have pre-existing nerve issues, diabetes could be making it worse. Which could explain why I have been having greater mobility issues the last couple years that I did not have before diabetes.

I learned this from my optometrist, not my primary care or any of the doctors/specialists I have seen for pain, nerves, or diabetes. It opened a whole new line of possibilities for me and that if I can reverse the diabetes, then most likely my pain management will become easier again.

A sliver of hope for a life without pain. Or at least manageable pain. I am even more motivated to continue on this journey of improving my personal health.
