As a mom, I think the thing I complain about the most is repeating myself. I go to all the trouble of making sure people in the house are listening to me the first time I say something. Then I finish talking and am immediately asked to repeat myself because they are not paying attention. Sometimes I even write it down and it is still forgotten.

Then there are reminders about how to properly do a chore, or to do the chore in the first place. Or even common courtesy things like do not block the front door from opening by leaving your backpack on the floor behind it.

Which leads to the “I forgot” excuses, which really do not hold up well because it has been explained, answered, and reminded so many times. How could you forget it? I certainly remember the multiple times I have said the thing.

It is amazing the type of blindness and deafness one’s family can have over very small asks. Like please flush the toilet. If the garbage can is full, please take it out. Yes, it is your scheduled laundry day again, please do it.

I have tried every tactic out there and there is no stopping this problem. It is crazy.
