The one thing I have always wished to explain to my pets is vet trips. That we are going for their health and it will be over soon. Vet trips have always been awful for every pet I have ever had. If they could only know that I do it to help them and not torture them, that would make my life so much easier.
Cats were always the worst patients. The last two would either get carsick or scream the entire time they were out of the house.
Second choice would be to have them understand when I tell them I have to go somewhere and that the pet sitter will be taking care of them until I return. Our last cat would hide and never come out for any pet sitter. She would just hide the entire time we were gone.
The last two cats would cry when we would come home. They would be so upset and clingy and make such sad little noises for the first couple hours we were home again. My calico jumped into my arms several times when I would come home. She would run up when she saw it was me in the door and then jump up at me and I would drop whatever I was carrying to catch her.
Anything to make my pets less stressed and sad.
