It has been an interesting break with my kid this year. I am not entirely sure what is going on with her right now. Other than the lack of structure from school. Usually the winter break is pretty chill.
She has been swearing a lot, is overly sensitive, and seems to be trying to pick a fight over every small thing. I am not entirely sure what is going on.
I have a few theories: either she is having withdrawal from talking to her abusers because she actually kept them off her new phone number, the fight she is having with friends is bigger than I was led to believe, or perhaps she is being harassed by the people she was supposed to be keeping off the phone.
It’s so hard to have a kid that clearly needs help and desperately wants help, yet struggles to communicate what is actually happening. Either the problem becomes so large I find out because she needs to clean up the mess left behind. Or I have to get it out of her.
I’m going to try and casually ask her if something is bothering her tomorrow. See what that will get me. Usually just sworn and yelled at, but maybe she will surprise me. I doubt it, but I have to give her the benefit of the doubt.
Maybe I should ask her what her goals are for 2026.
