The time of the year where everyone looks over the year that they have had and thinks about what they want to be different next year. Let’s go!
- I started writing a book this year. I want to finish it and publish it. I’m very motivated at the moment and it is coming together really well. I tend to stop before I finish things and I want to finish this. I want to accomplish something that is just something I made.
- I am going to finish cleaning my house. It has not been completely clean since the pandemic. We are so close right now. I just need to finish two rooms and do some of my normal spring cleaning. Then we can all properly restart and move on with our lives.
- My partner and I have made some progress in couples therapy. I would like there to be more. He is finally participating. It took him all year, but he is finally putting in effort. Honestly, I would not have minded him not trying, but he needed to stop blaming me for our lack of progress.
- I need to get things squared away, so my kid will be ready for life after high school. Need to budget how much she needs for her college requisites and help her get on the ball with her scholarship applications. She graduates soon!!! So exciting.
- I was about to write that I still need to lose some weight, but that is just not healthy. I need to keep eating at regular intervals. The weight is coming off, I just need to keep myself from going into starvation mode.
- I want to finish getting my garden in order. We made so much progress this year. Basically, since the girls moved in I have not kept up with anything outside except for the occasional mowing and desperately needed work. Now my garden beds are cleaned out and the bushes are mostly trimmed. We actually grew some food this year. It felt so normal again.
Those are my big goals for the year. There will be little things like trying to bake again. I used to love doing that, but it can wait another year if it has to. Recovery after trauma is a marathon not a race. I just need to stay realistic to succeed.
I hope everyone keeps their goals simple and straightforward. Good luck in 2026!
